Followmont Transport, one of Queensland’s largest transport companies, has declared the Blueprint shed built at their Rockhampton depot the “best yet”.

Blueprint’s revolutionary shed design provides a huge advantage to Followmont’s employees by providing an open space unhindered by centre support posts.

“Having no internal posts means the customer has no internal constraints and reduces the risk of heavy machinery and equipment such as trucks and forklifts running into them and damaging the building.”

Bernie Tobin, Followmont’s co-founding director agrees.

“It’s such a bonus not to have centre posts sitting within your shed.”

“With centre posts everything has got to revolve around them and they’re still a real workplace, health and safety issue. With clear span, you can alter your whole movement and layout of the building and not have to be working around centre posts.”

“At the end of the day you’ve got a very nice product and it provides a much safer working environment.”

Blueprint and Followmont Transport had forged a close working relationship after previously supplying four depots in Queensland. Given the opportunity to tender for the Rockhampton depot, Blueprint proposed an alternate design featuring UB columns, an open web truss and a clear span of 51Mt. The building design also included a 10Mt cantilever awning around three sides.

Mr Tobin praised Blueprint's innovative design, planning and excellent customer service which met all of Followmont’s expectations.

“Lead times are fantastic” he said. “They give you a lead time and it’s delivered on the date.

“As for customer service, you couldn't beat it."

Having spent tens of thousands of dollars on costly engineering and architecture fees in the initial depot design, Mr Tobin has vowed to go straight to Blueprint in the future as he is impressed not only by the finished product, but the entire process.

Blueprint brings over two decades of building experience to each project, fabricating steel sheds that are fully customised, functional and designed to cope with the extremes of the Australian environment.

Blueprint uses a unique lifting process where the roof is built on the ground and lifted into position as a whole structure. The process exceeds workplace health and safety requirements and minimises costly extras such as fall arrest systems, scissor lift hire and additional crane hire. Watch the video >
